St Stephen, Great Wigborough

Great Wigborough

Alternatively, if you don't have flash enabled, you can go straight to the set for this church on flickr.

The road north skirted the east side of the vast Abberton reservoir, and remote from its village and set beyond the woods is St Stephen. Down the end of a long track, I found it open. I had found it locked in November, but had reasoned it would likely be open on a summer Saturday, and so it proved. In fact, it is obviously usually open judging by the notices and visitors book. Again, largely rebuilt after the 1884 earthquake and mostly 19th Century inside, but very nicely kept and with a devotional feel. I was glad I'd come back.
