St James the Less, Little Tey

Little Tey

Click on the 'play' symbol in the second image to see all my photographs of this church as a slide show, then click on any image in the slideshow to see it large in a new page.

Alternatively, if you don't have flash enabled, you can go straight to the set for this church on flickr.

Tiny 12th Century church on the outskirts of Marks Tey, down a lane from the horrible Colchester to Stansted road. Open every day. A striking gabled apse, most unusual.

Inside, two extensive ranges of wall-paintings, a Passion sequence of the 13th Century and further paintings of the 14th Century. Indistinct now, but fascinating and well worth a look.

Simon Knott, May 2011
